Kingston grandmother braves icy plunge to support African grandmothers raising orphans
A Kingston grandmother is using her love of polar dips to help raise funds for the Kingston Grandmother Connection.
Gail McTague began this fundraiser four years ago. She told us the feeling you get when you plunge into the freezing water
McTague is part of the Kingston Grandmother Connection, a group that raises money for African grandmothers left to care for grandchildren orphaned by AIDS.
The group will plunge into Lake Ontario from Portsmouth Olympic Harbour at noon on New Year's Eve. Everyone is invited to attend and bring a friend and some noise makers to cheer them on.
Her first fundraiser raised $4,000, far surpassing her $500 goal, and her efforts have grown each year.
