Annual walk targets homelessness and hunger
The 2025 Coldest Night of the Year takes place in Kingston and across Canada Saturday, February 22nd.
Lionhearts Inc. is overseeing the 5k walk this year, with their ultimate goal being to eradicate hunger and homelessness.
Its CEO Travis Blackmore says the recent weather emphasizes the harsh conditions the unhoused experience.
Blackmore says it's an important night.
The walk starts and ends at Kingston Gospel Temple, and includes pitstops for refreshments and snacks provided by sponsoring partners.
So far over $31,000 has been raised and 25 teams have registered.
Blackmore says the issues those who are unhoused face only gets compounded in the Canadian winter.
