Downtown Kingston BIA: Here comes Santa Claus!
The Downtown Kingston BIA is set to host the Santa Claus Parade and annual Tree Lighting this weekend.
It's the 20th annual edition.
BIA Events Manager Sandi Griffiths says it gets better every year too thanks to a community effort.
The Food Bank - Partners in Mission always kicks off the parade in advance. You're asked to bring along a donation of a non-perishable food item to help a family in need over the holiday season.
Griffiths says the parade is also a great way for the BIA to connect to the people of Kingston as they ring in the season together.
There's another part of the parade that's a big hit with Kingstonians too, that can't be missed.
A drone video of last season's lighting provided audible gasps from the audience so it is not to be missed.
Griffiths says the parade and lighting are something every member of the BIA looks forward to. The twin events are the result of several partnerships in the city though it's spearheaded by their organization.
The Parade starts at 5pm at Innovation Park and makes its way down Princess St. to Ontario St. They suggest you arrive early to get a good spot.
