A closer look at the new Midtown Kingston Health Home
Earlier this week we told you about the Midtown Kingston Health Home, a new clinic operated by Kingston Community Health Centres (KCHS).
Meghan O'Leary Director of Clinical Services with KCHS says the model sees several different services under one roof.
That can include care for mental health, diabetes, and others. O'Leary points out that they can also change services offered based on the needs of the community.
O'Leary says they're looking to help people in their geographical area first, but they must be registered with the province.
Health Care Connect is the province's online portal to help connect Ontarians without doctors to primary care.
But O'Leary notes that they do offer other services for people who are not on their roster.
Offering those services, and others, will help get people the care they need, and keep them out of the region's emergency rooms.
