What's good in Kingston

We're in a perfect spot for a cosmic marvel

There could be some stiff necks tomorrow morning as Kingston looks up tonight at the best meteor shower of the season.

Backyard Astronomer Gary Boyle says that while any time is a good time to look out into the night sky, tonight is ideal as we will be entering the peak period of the Perseid meteor shower.

Boyle says he other astronomers are able to determine the height of a meteor shower and exactly what we're looking at.

When you're looking up at the show, you should take a gander around the area too as several planets will also be visible.. but you may have to pull an all nighter.

Now to get the best view of the planets, you'll have to wait until Wednesday but you'll still be able to spot them in the sky tonight if you're checking out the shower.

At its peak, The Perseid Meteor shower sees roughly 100 meteors lighting up the night sky.
