What's good in Kingston

Kingston makes big strides in affordable housing

In 2023, Kingston took significant steps to improve housing affordability with the help of community partners. The city enhanced several housing support programs, such as Kingston-Frontenac Renovates, the Homelessness Prevention Fund, and the Affordable Housing Home Ownership Program.

City Council approved nearly $30 million for new affordable housing, including $15.8 million from municipal funds and $14.2 million from other government sources. This investment is set to boost the local housing market significantly.

A notable achievement was the completion of the Homes for Heroes Veterans’ Village. This project, which includes 25 modular homes for veterans, was built on a one-acre site on King Street West, donated by the province.

These accomplishments highlight Kingston's commitment to improving housing options for all residents. For more details on other housing milestones, check out the Strategic Plan 2023-2026 update at City of Kingston.
