What's good in Kingston

Hunger Action Month continues

This is Hunger Action Month, something local food banks, Like Kingston's Partners in Mission appreciate.

Executive Director Dan Irwin says the goal is awareness.

He adds that Kingston is a generous city overall, and getting the word out only makes that support stronger.

The campaign comes at a good time for Partners in Mission and all food banks as they're in a slower time of the year donation-wise.

Irwin says they deal with a stark realty. Partner's in Mission is on pace for another record year for the fourth year in a row. They've already distributed close to 14,000 hampers to families.

Feed Ontario says every bit helps, because in many cases food banks can't keep up with demand. They note more than a million Ontarians rely on them. Luckily, Kingston is known to step up with food and cash donations, and by volunteering to help out.
