Ahead by a century: Hip doc screenings boost KFL&A United Way
The United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington is sharing a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended both nights of The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal documentary screenings.
Joanne Langlois, Chair of the 2024 Campaign, says that one day Jake Gold, the manager behind The Tragically Hip, phoned and said that Mike Downie (brother of the late Gord Downie), the director of the documentary, really wanted to bring the series back to Kingston in support of charity.
What began as a one night event quickly turned into two screenings after the first night sold out quickly. Langlois said they had an amazing screening, playing just the first two episodes both nights.
The event helped raise $80,000 which is going to support the United Way's Campaign goal of raising $3,950,000. Langlois provided us an update on how it's going.
The campaign wraps up November 28, 2024. For more information and updates, please visit www.unitedwaykfla.ca.
