United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington is asking the community to pitch in.

As it gets colder and winter arrives, many people in the community depend on donated coats to stay warm.

United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) is asking the community to pitch in again for their fourth annual coat drive.

Vice President of Community Investment, Kim Hockey, shared with us that before the pandemic, this was a community-led event. But when the pandemic happened, and people couldn’t come in person, the United Way stepped in to help organize it for our community.

The United Way is looking for donations of gently used coats without rips or tears, and that are clean. Size wise, there's often requests for sizes in the in the larger XL sizes in both male and female gendered jackets.

As donations are received, volunteers will sort and distribute coats to agencies throughout KFL&A.

To collect the donations, the United Way has partnered with libraries across KFL&A.

Donations are also being accepted at the United Way KFL&A Office on Bagot Street, at Kingston City Hall, at the Starbucks Indigo - 935 Gardiners Road, and at the Starbucks RioCan - 599 Taylor Kidd Blvd.

Hockey shared with us these donated jackets can make a big impact on someone's life.

The coat collection drive runs until November 18th.
