Serving up community for years: Marth's Table
Martha’s Table has been a welcoming fixture on Princess Street for years, serving up great food, along with friendship and supports to those in need. Executive director Ronda Candy explains what they’re all about.
Ronda notes Martha’s serves a wide variety of people in Kingston. She says they see families with young kids, senior citizens, students and the un-housed. She notes that people who are employed are the fastest category in their service.
Ronda also put some hard numbers to the increase in demand at Martha’s.
The greatest needs at Martha’s Table are easily summed up, and it’s not a surprise that donations, both physical and of time, are tops on the list.
Their website marthastable.ca has all the details. You can donate, sign up to be a volunteer and find out about all the services they offer. And Candy notes, all are welcome no one gets turned away.
