Check out the repair cafe!
The Kingston Frontenac Public Library is offering a welcoming space to learn new skills and to connect users with our community of fixers with their repair cafe. KFPL's Liz Coates explains what it's all about.
It's not simply about letting an expert volunteer repair a broken item, users learn valuable skills as they work together with the fixers. Liz says it's much more than just fixing something..
The variety of items brought in to the repair cafe always amazes Liz
Seamstress and knitting volunteers are also on hand to help with treasured clothing repairs.
Everyone is welcome, even if you have nothing to be fixed. This drop-in program is designed for anyone interested in learning and connecting with repair experts.
Please note that they cannot accept any products that use petroleum, and all items must be taken home with the owner at the end of the program session, as they cannot store them on-site.
The repair cafe is open on the first Saturday of every month from 2-4 pm at the KPFL central branch at 130 Johnson Street in Kingston.
