More opportunity for students and the community

St. Lawrence College (SLC) has officially opened the William James Henderson Foundation Specialty Nursing Lab at its Kingston campus, thanks to a generous $400,000 donation. The advanced lab will provide nursing students and healthcare professionals with hands-on training in specialty curriculum and high-pressure healthcare scenarios.

The lab features cutting-edge technology and immersive sensory tools designed to help students practice critical responses in urgent healthcare situations. It will also offer workshops and training for current healthcare providers, enhancing care quality in Eastern Ontario.

“This facility will ensure SLC nursing grads are ready to meet the demands of healthcare environments,” said Michael Hickey of the Henderson Foundation. SLC President Glenn Vollebregt expressed gratitude for the transformative gift, noting its lasting impact on the community.

The lab, which opened on December 3, is part of a broader upgrade of health science learning spaces at SLC’s three campuses.
