President and Chair offer thoughts on election and Canada/US dispute
President of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Robin Jones has some timely advice for voters in the upcoming provincial election.
She notes that listening to candidate messaging is critical as municipalities are being forced through provincial downloads to provide funding for services that property taxes were never designed to cover.
When it comes to the housing crisis, Mississippi Mills Mayor and Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Chair Christa Lowry, provided some statistics demonstrating the challenges smaller communities are facing.
She says its crucial to listen to what the Parties are saying when it comes to building new homes, adding smaller municipalities are at a disadvantage once again.
In the light of a potential tariff war between the United States and Canada, Jones says AMO has an important message for all residents.
