Arrest in fatal Bob's Lake boat crash

Three young adults lost their lives

KingstonDaily.ca has learned that the Ontario Provincial Police have made an arrest following a fatal boat crash on Bob's Lake over the Victoria Day long weekend.

The tragic incident happened on Saturday, May 18, around 9:30 p.m. in the Buck Bay area, located about 140 kilometres southwest of Ottawa. Three people — Juliette Côté, 22, Riley Orr, 23, and Kaila Bearman, 21 — were pronounced dead at the scene.

Five others were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

No information about the suspect or charges has been released. Police say the person remains in custody. A news conference is planned for late this morning (Wednesday)

Emergency responders, including paramedics, police, and firefighters, were dispatched to the area as crews worked to coordinate rescue boats during the chaotic scene.

The arrest has been a longtime coming with many questioning if one would be made. The OPP could speak to that during the news conference.
