South Frontenac Township will roll out updated user fees for its indoor and outdoor recreation facilities starting January 1, 2025. This change follows a two-year study to create a fair, equitable, and sustainable fee system.
The new fee structure includes three categories: youth, seniors, and non-profits will pay the lowest fees; adult groups slightly higher; and non-residents, corporate, and for-profit users the highest. Groups previously exempt from fees will transition gradually over two years.
Facilities impacted include popular indoor venues like Harris Park Hall and Storrington Centre, as well as outdoor locations like Centennial Park and Sydenham Point Park.
Mayor Ron Vandewal says the updated fees balance operational needs with fairness and tax management.
Municipal facilities remain available for recreational activities, tournaments, and events. Residents and groups can find detailed information about renting spaces and the updated rates at www.southfrontenac.net/rentals.
