It was a not a good month for jobs coast-to-coast according to the latest figures put out by Statistics Canada.

The unemployment rate rose to its highest level in over two years last month, reaching 6.4 percent in June, up from 6.2 percent in May.

Meanwhile, the economy shed 1,400 jobs in June, contributing to the increase.

In Kingston, the trend was a bit different with a drop from 5.8 percent in May to 5.3 percent in June.

Experts are uncertain what impact this data will have on the Bank of Canada when it makes its next interest rate decision on July 24th.
