Will seek re-election
Longtime Liberal Chrystia Freeland is resigning from cabinet. She is currently the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
She made the announcement in a letter released this morning, in which she also states that she plans to run for her Toronto seat in the next federal election.
There had been reports for a while now, that she and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have had disagreements on key issues. In her letter, Freeland says the decision comes after Trudeau offered her another position.
Freeland was scheduled to present the Liberals' Fall economic update Monday.
