Don't pour that syrup just yet: Health Canada recalls waffles sold in Napanee

Possible listeria contamination gets the blame

Check your freezers – Health Canada has issued a recall for Homestyle Waffles sold by Country Traditions Frozen Food Outlet in Napanee due to potential listeria contamination. The recall affects only specific batches of these waffles, identified by packaging codes ranging from 24242 to 24302.

The recall was initiated by Country Traditions as a preventive measure, with no reported illnesses connected to the product so far. However, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) cautions that listeria-contaminated foods may appear safe but can still lead to severe health problems. Symptoms of listeria infection may include nausea, vomiting, persistent fever, muscle aches, headaches, and neck stiffness.

The CFIA is actively investigating this issue, and further recalls may be announced based on their findings. Consumers who purchased these waffles are advised to check their packaging and avoid consuming any products with the specified codes.
