Drug, Weapons Bust

Kingston resident among those charged as part area searches

Kingston Police have made a series of arrests after the discovery of drugs and weapons.

A 21-year-old man from Belleville was arrested in the area of John Counter Boulevard and Sir John A MacDonald Boulevard on Tuesday. The arrest resulted in the seizure of a loaded 9mm firearm with 19 rounds of ammunition and a substantial amount of Canadian currency.

A subsequent search of a residence on Smith Street and Princess Street led to the discovery of a large quantity of green fentanyl, indicating possible processing activities within the premises. The Belleville suspect faces multiple firearms charges, including possession of a firearm in a vehicle and careless storage of firearms/ammunition. He is also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl. The individual was on judicial release for serious offences, including attempted murder and firearm-related charges.

A 28-year-old from Toronto was also arrested and charged with breach of probation, breach of release order, possession of proceeds of crime, and trafficking fentanyl. This individual was already on judicial release for various offences, including drug trafficking and possession of stolen property.

Additionally, a 26-year-old Kingston resident was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and breach of probation. All suspects were transported to Kingston Police headquarters and held for bail hearings.

The investigation underscores the persistence of illegal drug and firearm activities in the community, highlighting the need for continued vigilance by law enforcement. Kingston Police urge residents to report any suspicious activities involving drugs or weapons to D/Sgt Shawn Birney at 613-549-4660 ext. 6323.
