Emergency response on Concession Street leads to assault charges

Three youths in hot water

A dramatic scene on Concession Street at Alfred Street Monday afternoon ended with three youths facing assault charges.

Kingston Police and Frontenac Paramedics rushed to the area after a 911 call from a local business owner. According to police, three youths caused a disturbance at the store around 2:40 p.m. and were asked to leave. They returned shortly after, pepper-sprayed the owner, and assaulted them outside the store. Before fleeing, one suspect threw a rock through the store window.

Police arrested the suspects a short distance away. All three face charges of assault, assault with a weapon, and mischief under $5,000. Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, their names cannot be released.

Police confirmed no firearms were involved despite initial speculation about a shooting. The business owner was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not disclosed the business name or the owner’s current condition.
