Feds invest $3.8M to boost life sciences in Kingston

Eastern Ontario’s innovation sector is getting a major boost

The federal government is investing $3.4 million in the Kingston Economic Development Corporation to help life sciences companies grow. 

Ruby Sahota, Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, made the announcement after a tour of Providence Care Hospital. She says the funding will support Kingston Life Sciences by establishing a new wet lab.  

The funding will also support The Helix Business Support Program, through the Kingston Economic Development Corporation. 

The project is expected to support over 100 businesses by helping them commercialize new medical products.

CEO of the Kingston Economic Development Corporation, Donna Gillespie is very grateful for the funding, and says it will make an incredible difference. 

The government says the investments will create jobs, drive innovation, and strengthen the economy in Kingston.
