Food waste is costing Canadian households how much each year?

Here's what can be done

Inflation has hit most Canadian households quite hard in their grocery bills.

Second Harvest is a food rescue organization that works with food businesses from across the supply chain to redirect surplus food to non-profit organizations across Canada.

Their Pat Joslin had some startling statistics on food waste.

And it gets worse.

The waste attributed to households is estimated to cost families $3800 per year.

Joslin also reminds everyone that scrapping food also wastes all the food chain inputs such as water, energy, and transportation costs.
