7th straight meeting for the powerhouses of women's rugby
Queen's Women's Rugby will take on the Guelph Gryphons for the seventh straight year in the OUA Championship Game.
The teams will compete for the Monilex Cup this evening (Friday)at 7 p.m. at Nixon Field, with free admission for all fans.
The rivalry is fierce, with Queen’s winning three of the last six championships against Guelph. Last season, the Gaels triumphed 33-19, and in 2021, they avenged a previous loss by winning the U SPORTS Championship after Guelph claimed the OUA title.
Queen’s advanced to the final after a stunning 72-0 victory over the Western Mustangs in the semifinals, led by Siobhan Sheerin, who scored three tries. Guelph reached the championship by defeating the Brock Badgers 71-10.
The teams previously met in the regular season, where Queen's staged a thrilling comeback to win 31-24 despite being down by 17 points.
