Greater Napanee held a public meeting to discuss parks bylaws and a proposed encampment protocol. Mayor Terry Richardson opened by thanking attendees for their involvement.

The meeting aimed to inform residents about bylaws and get feedback on how to address encampments. CAO Matthew Grant explained the need for a balanced approach that considers legal obligations and recent court rulings.

Representatives from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and local agencies outlined their roles in addressing homelessness, emphasizing public safety and support. Residents raised concerns about bylaw enforcement and safety.

Grant reassured attendees that the town is actively reviewing bylaws and working with the County of Lennox and Addington on affordable housing solutions. He stressed that managing encampments is a complex issue requiring community input.

Council will review feedback and report back, showing their ongoing commitment to creating a safe and fair environment.
