Big money for big causes
Hockey Helps the Homeless (HHTH) made a major impact in Kingston, raising over $165,000 for local organizations Lionhearts Inc. and Youth Diversion. Each charity received more than $82,000 to support their work with vulnerable community members.
Lionhearts will use its donation to provide more transitional housing and services to help individuals move from homelessness to stable living. Youth Diversion, marking its 50th anniversary, will put the funds toward substance use and addiction services, ensuring youth have access to addiction counselors.
The event saw over 170 skaters, 14 celebrity NHL and Olympics alumni, 25 local sponsors, and 1,000 donors come together to support these important causes. Joanne Langlois, co-chair of HHTH Kingston, praised the community's involvement, noting the event's success surpassed that of its inaugural year.
To participate in next year's event, individuals can email emma@hhth.com to be added to the mailing list.
