Dozens of femicides in the province reported
Ontario Domestic Violence Review Committee member Erin Lee recently shared disturbing statistics about intimate partner violence in Ontario.
She urges officials across the province and country to remember those numbers and how they make them feel as they move throughout the work being done to address IPV.
Stats from 2019 showed 229 cases of IPV per 100,000 people in Kingston. It's also well-documented that not every case of IPV is reported to police or other authorities.
The City of Kingston is one of almost 100 hundred municipalities in Ontario to declare IPV an epidemic. An NDP motion at Queen's Park to do the same remains in Committee being debated.
