United Way KFL&A is calling on local residents to support the Period Promise Donation Drive throughout March 2025. The drive aims to help individuals facing period poverty, with one in five people who menstruate likely to experience this hardship this year. Donations of menstrual hygiene products, including tampons, pads, and liners, will be collected at various locations in Kingston, Frontenac, and Lennox & Addington.
The drive runs from March 1 to 31, 2025, with drop-off sites including all Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Kingston, AMherstview and Napanee, Starbucks in Kingston (RioCan and Indigo), Cher-Mere west end location, Curves 650 Cataraqui Woods Drive, Unite 104, and the United Way KFL&A office.
Last year, the community donated over 100,000 products, which were distributed to local agencies supporting individuals in need.
"Menstrual hygiene products can be very expensive but are a necessity for many. Can you imagine worrying about buying a product that you need or buying food for your family? We see this with individuals at Interval House, struggling to make ends meet,” explained Leigh Martins, Training, Education and Volunteer Coordinator at Kingston Interval House. “Having these products donated by the United Way, allows us to give them the products they need so that they can use their money to buy other necessary items."
