Lot's of great activities planned!
The Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL) is celebrating Black Histories and Futures Month with a variety of programs and events throughout February and March.
The library launched its Black Histories and Futures Reading Challenge on Saturday, encouraging participants to read works by Black authors for a chance to win local gift cards.
On February 22, children ages 4-8 can participate in Welcoming Wall Art, a workshop focused on diversity through art therapy.
KFPL is also partnering with Queen’s University’s Black Studies program to host a documentary screening of Resistance in a Hostile Environment: Subnormal, followed by a discussion.
In March, children ages 8-12 will explore African and Caribbean cultures through activities like Kente Cloth Paper Weaving and a Carnival Headpiece Workshop.
The library says the events highlight the contributions of Black communities and promote cultural learning for all ages.
