Serving up the slices!
Kingston City Councillor Jimmy Hassan is bringing holiday cheer to the community with his annual Santa’s Slices initiative.
This year he was joined by local MP Mark Gerretsen during the launch. The MP joined the crew and help make a few pies.
Running through his Pizza Pizza franchise on Bath Road, the initiative is in its fourth year. It aims to donate pizzas to local shelters and charities throughout December.
Started by Hassan’s youngest son during the COVID-19 pandemic, the initiative encourages giving back to those in need.
This year, the goal is to donate over 2,100 slices of pizza, with support from businesses and the community. People can also purchase pizzas for $10 to be donated to shelters like Martha’s Table, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Integrated Care Hub.
Hassan, who also funds an annual Diversity Dinner, is passionate about supporting the community. Pizza Pizza is also contributing by donating raw ingredients to help with the cause. The campaign will continue through the end of the month.
