Kingston crime prevention campaign in the works

Mayor brings idea to PSB, now off to Council

Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson would like to launch a crime prevention campaign in the city.

He brought the idea to the last Kingston Police Services Board meeting last.

The Mayor said it would be a city-led campaign, but he wanted to bring it to the Board first for their input.

Police Chief Scott Fraser supports the move.

Kingston Councillor Jimmy Hassan said he thinks the campaign should have a component of trust-building between the public and the force.

Mayor Paterson will bring it up to Council, which will then provide staff with direction to begin the process.
