Kingston declares significant weather event

City asks that unnecessary travel be avoided

The City of Kingston has declared a significant weather event after Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel as road and sidewalk maintenance may be delayed.

All municipal buildings, including administration offices and community centres, will open at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13. Customer Service will be unavailable, and garbage collection will be delayed.

The storm is expected to impact travel Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. Kingston Transit will run a modified service until noon on Thursday before resuming normal operations. Commuters should check KingstonTransit.ca for updates and allow extra travel time.

Residents are encouraged to stay safe and use caution when heading out. The city will work to clear roads and sidewalks as conditions improve.
