Here's how to apply

Community groups in Kingston can now book free meeting spaces at select city facilities under a new initiative aimed at fostering inclusion and connection.

The Free Space Initiative, approved by City Council on Feb. 18, 2025, is a two-year pilot program that allows ethnocultural, community, and neighborhood groups to use underutilized spaces at no cost. It officially launched on Feb. 21, 2025.

Groups can reserve rooms at Artillery Park Aquatics Centre, Rideau Heights Community Centre, and Cataraqui Community Centre. Spaces include gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, halls, meeting rooms, and kitchens.

The initiative, originally proposed in May 2024, is part of the city’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Advance booking is required, and events must align with Kingston’s community-building goals.

Interested groups can apply online through MyKingston or contact the city by phone (613-546-0000) or email (ContactUs@CityofKingston.ca) for more details.
