It's a chance for youth to solve real-world community issues
The City of Kingston and BGC South East are launching a new Junior Mayor’s Innovation Challenge, giving youth aged 12+ the chance to solve real-world community issues.
Inspired by the Mayor’s Innovation Challenge for post-secondary students, this free program helps young participants develop problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills. With guidance from experienced engineers and educators, students will learn how to drive innovation, manage projects, and present solutions to local challenges.
The program runs from March 19 to June 4, meeting Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45 to 5 p.m. at BGC South East’s new STEM & Robotics Centre on Bath Road. It ends with a pitch presentation to the Mayor and local professionals.
Registration filled in just one day, but extra spots have been added. To sign up or learn more, visit BGC South East’s website or email stem@bgcsoutheast.ca.
