Experience traditional Chinese music, dance, and martial arts!
The Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL) and the Chinese Canadian Association of Kingston and District (CCAKD) are inviting the community to celebrate and learn about Chinese culture at the Lunar New Year Spring Festival. The event takes place at the Central Branch on Feb. 8, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This free, family-friendly event will showcase traditional Chinese music, dance, and martial arts, offering attendees a chance to experience the rich cultural heritage of the Lunar New Year. Highlights include a Lion Dance by Tallack Martial Arts, performances by Queen’s University students and the Kingston School of Dance, and Tai Chi and Kung Fu demonstrations.
Guests can also join a poetry and writing workshop, a bilingual (English and Mandarin) Lunar New Year Family Storytime, and a Year of the Snake craft station. The event promotes diversity and understanding in Kingston, encouraging cultural appreciation for all ages.
