Kingston Man arrested after lengthy standoff

Stalemate with Police on Rosemund Crescent lasted hours

A 46-year-old Kingston man is facing multiple charges following a standoff with police on Rosemund Crescent that lasted several hours.

Kingston Police say the incident started around 1 p.m. on September 25th when they responded to a report of an employee threatening and harassing a local business owner and their family. Officers found the suspect at a home on Rosemund Crescent.

The man allegedly became aggressive and barricaded himself inside, holding a machete. Police set up a command post, containing the area for safety, and called in negotiators and the Emergency Response Unit.

After several hours of attempted negotiations, the suspect refused to cooperate. Police entered the home and arrested him safely just after 9 p.m.

The man was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is now facing charges including Criminal Harassment, Mischief, and two counts of Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm and Death.
