Kingston marks Holocaust Remembrance Day

Candle lighting ceremony set to take place

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, a time to reflect on the atrocities of the Holocaust, support survivors, and ensure history is never repeated.

Kingston City Hall and Springer Market Square will glow yellow tonight to honour this solemn day of remembrance. This gesture symbolizes the city's solidarity with global efforts to commemorate the millions of lives lost.

Queen's Hillel has dedicated the past week to Holocaust education, raising awareness about the tragic events and their lasting impact.

The week will conclude with a Community Candle Lighting Ceremony on January 27, marking 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz.

The ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m., providing a meaningful opportunity to remember, reflect, and stand against hate.

Community members are encouraged to attend. For details, text "LIGHTING" to 646-917-8291 or DM @hillelqueens on social media.
