Panic alarm had cruisers respond quickly
Kingston Police arrested a 36-year-old after an assault at a local shelter near Montreal Street and Joseph Street on the night of September 7, 2024.
The suspect, who was denied entry to the shelter, became upset and assaulted two staff members. After striking one staff member in the face, a second worker who intervened was also attacked. The shelter’s panic alarm was activated, and police responded quickly, arriving at 10:12 p.m. to arrest the suspect.
One staff member was treated at a hospital and released, while the second sustained minor injuries.
The accused, of no fixed address, faces two counts of assault and two counts of breach of probation. The individual, already on probation for a previous assault charge, appeared in bail court on September 8 and was released on bail.
