Emergency response unaffected
Kingston Police have identified a cyber incident that began on January 3, 2025, causing delays to some non-emergency IT services. Emergency response remains unaffected.
The police immediately implemented measures to protect public and staff data, including shutting down access to affected systems. A team, including third-party cybersecurity experts, has been assembled to investigate the issue.
The police have notified the Information and Privacy Commissioner and contacted the Ontario Provincial Police Cybercrime Investigations Team for assistance. They are working with other agencies to restore services.
The Kingston Police Service assures the public that safety remains their top priority and that efforts are underway to manage the situation effectively.
