All it takes is 2-4 hours per month
The City of Kingston is inviting residents to apply for the 2025 Neighbourhood Climate Action Champions (NCAC) program.
The initiative, marking its third year, helps locals lead climate action projects by offering funding, training, and resources.
Applications are open until Dec. 6 on Get Involved Kingston. Selected champions will receive up to $2,000 for their projects and must commit 4-5 hours per month on outreach, project planning, and implementation.
Projects can include educating the public on climate issues, leading discussions, collaborating on green initiatives, and promoting climate adaptation.
In 2024, participants led 12 projects, such as converting lawns into food-growing spaces and boosting energy efficiency education. The program aligns with Kingston's Climate Leadership Plan to reduce emissions.
A 2023 greenhouse gas report will be presented to Council on Nov. 19.
