Welcome news during cold snap
Home Base Housing has expanded its emergency shelter, In From The Cold (IFTC), to meet the growing demand for support during winter.
The shelter, which operates year-round, has added 10 new beds, increasing its capacity to 34.
The additional beds are available immediately, ensuring more people experiencing homelessness have a safe place to stay.
IFTC offers 24/7 services, including meals, shower and laundry facilities, and pet-friendly accommodations.
Each client at IFTC works with a dedicated case manager to secure permanent housing, which is part of the shelter's focus on long-term solutions.
In 2024, 64 individuals successfully moved into their own homes through this program.
Home Base Housing has served Kingston for over 30 years.
