Over 150 businesses started thanks to this program
Students in Kingston with big business ideas can now apply for Summer Company 2025, a government-funded program that helps young entrepreneurs launch and run their own summer businesses.
The program, run by Kingston Economic Development and funded by the Ontario government, is open to students aged 15 to 29. It offers business training, mentorship from local business leaders and up to $3,000 in startup funding.
Over the past decade, Summer Company has helped start 150 businesses in Kingston and provided $450,000 in funding. Last year, 12 students launched successful businesses.
Norman Musengimana of Kingston Economic Development says the program helps students develop entrepreneurial skills that will last a lifetime. Past participant Ben Renwick says the experience helped him gain confidence and business skills beyond just funding.
Applications are open until April 15, 2025. More information is available at investkingston.ca/summercompany.
