Kingston teen killed in tragic collision in South Frontenac

OPP looking for dash cam footage or doorbell videos

A tragic accident in South Frontenac Township has claimed the life of a 15-year-old pedestrian.

Frontenac OPP say the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025, on Rosedale Road, north of Sydenham. A commercial express van struck two pedestrians walking in the same direction.

The teen, from Kingston, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Another pedestrian sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The van’s driver, a 57-year-old man from Harrowsmith, stayed at the scene and spoke to police. Officers detected alcohol, and a roadside breath test registered in the warning range. The driver’s licence was suspended for three days, and the vehicle was towed for further investigation.

The road was closed for several hours as collision experts examined the scene.

Police are asking anyone with information, dash cam footage, or doorbell videos to call Frontenac OPP or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
