A $1-million grant has been awarded to Kingston Health Sciences Centre to fund a study on how artificial intelligence (AI) can help doctors manage their administrative workload.

The grant, provided by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), MD Financial Management Inc., and Scotiabank, will be used to assess the impact of generative AI on physician efficiency, workplace satisfaction, and patient well-being in southeastern Ontario hospitals.

The study, led by Dr. Siddhartha Srivastava, is part of the CMA’s Health Care Unburdened Grant program and will involve hospitals across the Kingston region, including Brockville General Hospital, Lennox and Addington County General Hospital, Providence Care, Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital, and Quinte Health.

The project aims to reduce administrative burdens, improve clinical efficiency, and enhance physician and patient experiences.
