Illegal parties and bylaw violations can lead to penalties under the Queen’s student code of conduct and city bylaws.
The City of Kingston and Kingston Police are reminding residents that the University District Safety Initiative will be in effect from Friday, March 14 at 12:01 a.m. to Tuesday, March 18 at noon.
The initiative aims to promote safer behaviour among students. It is a partnership between the City of Kingston, Kingston Police and Queen’s University.
When in effect, illegal parties and bylaw violations can lead to penalties under the Queen’s student code of conduct and city bylaws.
Violators could face fines, a court appearance, and additional costs if emergency services are required.
Kingston Police warn that residents may have to cover the cost of officers and firefighters responding to their property.
That’s about $90 per officer or firefighter for each hour or part of an hour they are there.
Police and Bylaw Enforcement will be monitoring the city closely throughout the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
