Give away on Aug. 17th
Kingston’s Giveaway Days are making a big impact by cutting down on waste and saving money for residents.
“When you pick up free secondhand items, you not only save them from landfill, but you also cut down on packaging waste and greenhouse gas emissions from making new goods,” says Adam Mueller, Operations Manager of Solid Waste Services.
The City says it’s a win-win for both the environment and your wallet.
Residents are encouraged to share their Giveaway Day finds on Instagram or Twitter using #WasteNotYGK. Remember to follow the guidelines: only put out items others might want, like books, furniture, and electronics, but avoid items like car seats and mattresses.
Place items at the curb with a ‘FREE’ sign and bring any leftovers back inside by the end of the day. For more details, visit the city’s website.
