Up for Kraft Hockeyville: Kingston's historic arena could win $250,000 for upgrades

Here's how you can help

Kingston's Memorial Centre arena, serving as a community hub since 1951, is in need of upgrades after 74 years of use. That's why it has been nominated for the annual Kraft Hockeyville Competition, which could secure $250,000 in funding for renovations.

It features a large NHL-sized ice pad and a war memorial, but its age has led to issues such as unstable ice and outdated facilities.

Local residents are advocating for improvements, including better seating, renovated locker rooms, and energy-efficient upgrades.

The arena holds significant historical and community value, hosting events from youth hockey to concerts.

The nomination period lasts until March 2nd. Then the judges review all submissions and pick their finalists. In addition to the cash for renovations, the winner also hosts an NHL pre-season game.

Runners up receive $25,000.

Kraft Hockeyville will announce the winner on April 5th.
