Lasalle Causeway’s temporary bridge set to open tomorrow

Bridge has been out since March

The new temporary bridge at the Lasalle Causeway is expected to open to traffic tomorrow, bringing relief to drivers after months of disruptions.

Crews have spent the last few days clearing debris and installing safety fences along the pedestrian walkways. Heavy trucks and paving vehicles have already crossed the bridge to finish construction work, indicating it’s safe for use.

An inspector reviewed the nearly completed structure on site yesterday, giving the project a final check.

The temporary bridge aims to restore traffic flow on one of Kingston’s busiest routes, which has been impacted by construction delays.

Drivers and pedestrians should see a return to regular routines, barring any last-minute issues. The bridge’s completion is expected to ease congestion and improve accessibility for everyone in the area.

Final details are being wrapped up to ensure a smooth opening day for commuters.

The bridge has been out since March.

The temporary bridge will be removed twice this fall, once in October and in November, to allow marine traffic to pass through.
