Local group wins $500,000 in LOTTO MAX draw

Kingston, Napanee, Gananoque among others represented

Kingston's lotto luck isn't fading.

A group of eight friends from Southeastern Ontario is celebrating after winning a $500,000 Maxmillions prize in the August 9, 2024, Lotto Max draw.

The group, made up of Michael Wolfgram (Elginburg), Aaron Amey (Napanee), Bradley Greenaway (Bath), Donley Kellar (Harrowsmith), Francis McMullen (Verona), Randy Rees (Gananoque), Robert Langille (Kingston), and Scott Anglin (Seeley’s Bay), has been playing the lottery together every Friday for eight years.

This is their first big win, and the group couldn’t be more excited. “I checked our ticket at the corner store on a Saturday morning, and I was caught off guard when I realized we had won,” Michael recalled. “I instantly called my wife, and she didn’t believe me,” he laughed. "I then began calling our group members one by one.”

With their winnings, the group plans to pay off bills, renovate their homes, take vacations, and invest. One member is even looking forward to buying a new vehicle.

The lucky ticket was purchased at Canadian Tire Gas+ on Princess Street in Kingston.
