Local public health agencies settling in after merger

South East Health Unit creating a unified approach to public health

The South East Health Unit officially launched on January 1, merging Hastings Prince Edward Public Health, Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Public Health, and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.

They're well into the process of settling into their new organization.

Dr. Piotr Oglaza, the new Medical Officer of Health and CEO, is confident in the new group.

Deputy Medical Officer of Health Dr. Linna Li highlighted that public health responsibilities remain unchanged, with local programs continuing seamlessly.

Residents are advised to continue using existing office contacts and websites for services. Same goes for phone numbers too.

Both doctors agree that the merger marks the beginning of a unified approach to public health across southeastern Ontario, aiming to streamline services while maintaining local connections.
