Work to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and cycling options
Construction on the Montreal Street and John Counter Boulevard intersection is set to begin March 17, 2025, with work continuing until October.
The City of Kingston says the project will improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and cycling options. Upgrades include new lighting, traffic signals, paving and signage. The project will also extend the Waaban Crossing multi-use pathway from Ascot Lane to the K&P Trailhead at Elliott Avenue.
"As Kingston grows, we're making practical improvements to support a city where everyone feels safe and connected," said Dan Franco, Project Engineer.
Drivers should expect lane reductions, which may cause occasional congestion. No full closures are planned, and emergency services will not be affected.
Access to homes and businesses will be maintained. Residents can subscribe to the City's Road and Parking Notices for updates or check Kingston Transit’s Service Alerts for commute changes.
